What do moms do best? The answer to that is easy, "just about everything". Mom is the hub that the family revolves around; she is the driving force behind the moral, ethical and spiritual direction of the family. When I look back on my own life, I see a strong grandmother, mother and three daughters who were without a doubt, the power point in the lives of the family. I dedicated one of my books, (In Search Of Paradise) to my own mom who shaped just about everything I am today. My father gave me the particulars, but my mom gave me the world. We look to our mother for advice, counseling, support, acceptance, recognition and that all important factor, love. She is always ready to fill in were we have a need and puts us back on track when...

http://gomestic.com/do-it-yourself/make-your-own-coffee-table/ The article above demonstrates how I save the material from wind damaged trees and build something good from it. I have salvaged over 1,000 trees in the last eight years. I have to admit, not every tree will be worth $1,600 because of the way the wind blows it down splitting it or cracking it badly and not all trees are suitable for the projects shown in the link above. For eco conscientious  people this is a pleasant way to use your hobby time with a very small outlay of tools. All of my tools were bought on sale and one or two projects paid for my entire shop. Take a look, if you like what you read in the link, click the I Like button. Dr Robert E McGinnis http://w...

Several years ago, I wrote a book for my children. this is but one out of hundreds. Beyond our genetic limitations, we may have a lot of say so over our aging process. This process started long before we were born and, physically, will terminate about the same time we do. However, what happens during the time between your birth and demise may have a lot to do with how long you live. There are many who espouse the principal of exercise, hard work, etc, and then we have those who depend on a good and steady diet of healthy foods. Is this enough? Is this necessary, or is something missing? What if, and I only suggest, what if, it is our outlook, attitude and relationships that give us the greatest strength in a long and very happy li...

We should never discard our vegetation waste as it is plant food for the coming growing season. Compost Your Chickens, I have written several articles on how to preserve natural  ingredients necessary to our own survival and lately I have been thinking of ways to redouble our efforts in this area. I have long been a creator of wooden furniture out of dead and fallen trees, as a matter of fact many of my own furnishings were added to my home by this manner. I also find useless bodies of water on or near my place to stock fish which I don't eat, but allow a variety of species to clean up these areas for me. When I cut down a tree, I will use the useful wood for furniture, the small pieces are cut up for the neighboring fireplaces an...

It is not uncommon to ask questions with very elusive answers, we all do it. Such as: Who am I in regard to infinity? What is my purpose? Why am I here? Have I been here before? Are we alone in the universe? And many more, you have heard a  lot of this and there are no real answers, except what each individual is willing to accept, should an answer be forthcoming. Having said that, it is my advice when you come across anyone who claims to know the answer to one of these questions or all, then you most likely should turn and be gone from that person. I know nothing, but I have lots of answers, these may not be correct or may be correct only at the moment. Let me ask you a question. Which is the perfect religion? Again, every individual wh...

Credit Card Hell!
Posted at 03:54:27 PM on Jul 05, 2010
I have never had a credit card and have always been taught by my own father that if you can't pay for it, you don't need it. I have been told that I couldn't rent a car or travel Europe without one and that too is hogwash. I have done both. Don't believe all you hear and don't believe you have to have everything you want. Our needs are meager and our wants gigantic. A visa debit card is honored every place I have traveled. good luck
Think about how much every human on earth pays for credit, the average credit card yearly cost is $8,000 to $10,000 depending on who you talk to and that doesn't even include interest on your home mortgage or car. Wow, what could a person do with all that money that is given away for desire.

Developing the Charity Habit

I enjoy the Christmas season. There was not much in the way of toys at Christmas time when I was growing up, but we had an abundance of love, family and happiness. I still look forward to Christmas and my life has improved in material ways, but there is nothing to compare with the good old days of family togetherness. Happy Holidays to you and your family and all of you who read this post. Dr Robert E McGinnis

Family Relationships and How they Affect Your Heart.
Posted at 03:38:35 PM on Jan 18, 2012
Many families are a mix of characters with some better than others. It is not uncommon for a member of one family to get along better with a member of another family, and that can develop into great business partnerships. It is also true that a member of one family can fall in love with a member of the opposite sex from another family and that is often called a marriage. I like to think of the universe as one happy family with everyone understanding that we all ride the crest of life in various way, in various places and at various time, and in various conditions. It seems to me that as we move away from our central family group, we notice a wide variety of differences in just about every respect that you might imagine. If the family is the springboard and an example to your life, the rest of the universe is the pool with no limit to depth or distance. Life is a grand experience and sloughing off the old and useless body is merely a caterpillar leaving a cocoon. Why not be cheerful and happy on that very special occasion that we often call death to the physical body, it is just the beginning of a new adventure.
