Based on the principles of business, and engaging in a business enterprise we should understand our personal and inter-personal potentials. At present, with the world global recession, creating a new business will be more strategic in planning unlike at ordinary times and following the entrepreneur process which involves: The discovery process: “the initial conception, and further refinement over time of a business idea that is hopefully based on external opportunity, and the exploitation process: The acquisition and coordination of the resources that are needed to realize the idea, as well as the identification and persuasion of would-be buyers. It will more pragmatic for an entrepreneur to engage in a new business venture.        Th...

After a profound training With Clinton Swaine I have decided to own a few truths. He teaches many things. Perhaps the most important was the following. I wrote several messages afterwards. Here is one of them....   I hope that this e-mail finds you well, with life smiling upon you   After 11 days of training with Clinton I have left feeling energised and focussed. In one word it was enlightening   Our final exercise was to hold the hands and look into the eyes of each person there and say "The gift you are to me is....." This proved a very powerful and deeply moving experience   It made me own the fact that others see me very differently to how I saw myself. I have far more to offer than I once thought   The gift you are to me is your he...

The introductory phase of this article is to create a simple brief which explores the meaning of entrepreneurship, why entrepreneurship, and innovative business creation. If entrepreneurs are born or made, then the processes of entrepreneurship, causal rationality and effectual reasoning by Sarasvathy, and many more other authors’ argument interrelates to what can be done to make the recent financial meltdown a bargaining factor to businesses across the world. Consequently, it is considered that creating a new business requires planning and putting into account some of the fundamental principles of business into consideration like (political, economical, social, and technical perspective) to ensure a smooth and sustainable business imple...

by Phylipa Dinnen What is happening in the world of small businesses today? There is increasing interference from the Inland Revenue, not only from random investigations, but they are now carrying out spot checks that the business accounts are being kept properly.  Failure to meet their standards and that spot check becomes a full investigation.  The real reason?  Increasing fines to offset loss of revenue from VAT.  Small business are struggling to keep their heads above water, and one person I know told me that a small business cannot possibly survive unless they take some money in cash (undeclared).  Of course, the Inland Revenue have worked this out, and for whatever cash is declared they will automatically increase it according...

As I grew up my understanding of love was that it was a feeling of peace, connection and timeless flow that lifted one's spirits to soaring heights. However, on a more practical level, based on the fact that I loved my parents, love was an evolving package of mixed emotions that I experienced when I loved someone else whose mood kept changing. If you truly love someone you will accept any emotional state that they experience – and deal with consequences of any actions that result from it.At a less technical level – unconditional love has no bounds.I have often contemplated what love is and had some very different insights and opinions on the subject as time evolved. A friend once told me that it was a short-term hormonal imbalance. Whils...

What would you be prepared to do for your friends? For those who have read the E-Myth - I wandered into the world of business after having an Entrepreneurial seizure. For those who haven't read the E-Myth - I decided to sack my boss and march into the world of business with no training or experience of what happens next. I knew that I could provide excellent services and that I would be better at it when freed from the dogma of other people's perceptions of how I should go about my business.  The reality was that I had no idea of what running a business was and spent over two years in the very harsh school of the idiots guide of how not to run a business. Indeed, I didn't even have a business as all of my services could only be perform...

This is a question which posed itself many a time to me over the years and I heard myself say ‘as long as I do what I love, the money will come.’ Now this may be true, even though at the time I had no idea how to do what I loved and trust that money would come. I was a slave to money, no doubt about it. And when I did take my higher horse and decide I would only work for money if I enjoyed the process of earning it, I still didn’t turn on the money tap. However, I am a reflective sort of a person as that’s the spiritual development path I’ve been following for the last twenty something years (or is it thirty something?) and at some point I was poked and prodded to look at that comment and think about it a little more deeply. Was I s...

When I was sixteen, I got my first credit card (an add-on from my dad) along with a severe warning that it was for ‘emergencies only’! In the back of my mind, the consequences of facing my dad with my credit card bills was reason enough to enforce the ‘emergencies only’ rule.   But once I hit my twenties and had my own cards, my concept of emergency spending began to include the latest Dior handbags, drinks and dinner with my friends, cellphone, ipod….and of course these were things I just had to have!! So in a very short span, I was in credit card hell! I really thought I knew better – my dad waned me repeatedly, I studied economics and business at school and university, I had seen friends live far beyond their means, so I how did...

Looking at nature everything is cyclical – through the seasons, from birth to death, from imagination through to manifestation. You can guarantee what part of the cycle is next, can’t you? Autumn always comes after summer, never the other way around?  The parts of the cycle are intrinsic and not voluntary or avoidable – well, not in our current understanding of Universal Laws. So is it possible that recession is a natural part of a financial cycle?Michael A Alexander, author of the Kondratiev Cycle, believes so. He has done extensive research on this. Looking at the years since industrialisation his research has become increasingly complex and he has recognized 18 year cycles within real estate slumps for example, denoted as the Ku...

The last two days have been incredibly challenging for me. Over the past 7 weeks I have been spending a great deal of time and energy in getting my new Walk Innovation website up and running. It has involved daily liaison with my web designer, who was based in the United Arab Emirates.   After 7 weeks of continued e-mailing and tinkering the website was almost perfect and my designer had told me that I would be able to easily edit the site. Originally, I had hoped that the site would be finished within a week and then realised that my needs were not being translated into actions.    As a trainer of NLP it is always important to remember that the meaning of all communication is the response you get. What I thought were easy to understand ...
