Are you one of those folks who's too busy making ends meet to do anything truly effective about our collective plight? If you are, and whilst I honestly sympathise with your condition, I feel bound to alert you to the error of your way. Sure it's noble and right within our current 'my own little world' mindset, but I'm not sure your children and grandchildren will thank you for it in the long run. If the majority of us are subscribed to hell on a handcart living, where we quietly hope things will get better - you know, the creation of a fair and sustainable society and planet - how do we logically stand a chance of it ever happening? You've surely heard that definition of insanity atrributed to Einstein and Benjamin Franklin - ...

As a punter-gatherer, I avoid supermarkets and favour small independent shops and markets. What’s more, as a hedolist, I seek out food that satisfies not only my tastebuds, but my conscience too, as well as our dear mother - Mother Earth. Yes, I know I sound like a bit of a navel-gazing, body-is-my-temple, poseur-purist with more time on my hands and more money than I know what to do with, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I hate the myths that keep people attached to bad food, unethical suppliers and a sick, globalised society. Eating well needn’t be problematic or cost the earth; whilst eating badly probably does - in the most literal sense. And I’m not taking excuses about not having enough time NOT to g...

Could there be a worse time to resign from a well-paid job in order to follow my heart, conscience and intuition, and trust that everything will work out? Probably not. Have we, the human race, got time to waste - in the face of environmental, economic and social catastrophe? I think not. When I took on my most recent and lucrative contract, I made a verbal agreement with my employer that I would leave if it ever felt like a job. It did, so I've just quit. Whilst doing that job (co-creating this very site), it became clear that we are on the edge of potentially disastrous global changes, that through denial and despair, we are hopelessly failing to address. I'm now in no doubt that we are past choice. In essence, we (in ...

WHETHER IT'S HEAVEN OR HELL, we create our own lives. For those who are constantly struggling with finances, relationships, health, school or career, life is hell. But life was never meant to be a struggle. Life is only as hard as our minds make it out to be. You attract what you subconsciously believe! And that's why many people who affirm, set goals and visualize having the things they want, never manifest those things into their physical, everyday life. Although you may consciously focus on attracting what you want; subconsciously (outside your awareness) you have a counter belief that prevents you from getting what you thought you wanted. Gaining the control of your subconscious CAN be a difficult task, but it is the first step in cr...

Darren Eden calls the free (yes, free) daylong introduction to his work – “The Awakening”. As I sat in the empty, expectant workshop hall at 8.30 anticipating the scheduled 9pm finish, I wondered how I’d stay awake, let alone be awakened. I needn’t have worried. 12 hours later, I was buzzing and recording interviews with other energised, enlightened and inspired attendees for traydio.com where you can check out the evidence for yourself on what 12 hours with Darren Eden can do. But before you do, let me tell you a little more… Reviewing a workshop is in some ways like reviewing a film. If I tell you what Darren does during the day, it’s like a film critic giving away the plot. I won’t do that. What I can tell you is that, if i...

I heard yesterday that Kevala - one of the world's longest established and best loved therapy training schools - has ceased training. I was briefly Principal when the school, that did most of its training by distance learning across a wide range of holistic disciplines, was based in Torquay. It was there too that collaborative song 'The Moon (Kevala Whispers)' was written. It's one thing to hear of lay-offs and closures in the globalised business environment, but another to feel the recessionary pinch closer to home among smaller scale enterprises that I trust in some way are changing the world for the better. And my concern intensified this morning as I heard of the closure of another apparently life-enhancing organisation - The Li...

Ask yourself what the worst investment you’ve ever made is and you will probably be instantly drawn to a financial situation which turned sour. It could have been a loan to a ‘friend’ that was never returned, or a dabble on the stock market that went wrong. It may even be a pension plan that went under. Either way, it’s probably financially motivated. In my late teens/early twenties I had a habit of making bad investments. These investments were usually in the form of loans to ‘friends’, which never seemed to find their way back to me. Many did get repaid – but they were not the one’s I was focussed on at the time. This led to me feeling an assortment of negative emotions as I recounted how wronged I had been. Being endowed with a tru...

I was talking to a colleague the other day who had just had a visit from a couple of old friends from America. And he was saying how delighted they were with the abundance in their lives and were celebrating how much they were able to give away. And he mentioned that, surprisingly, they didn’t sound at all surprised that they were doing well, given the current state of the market and that everyone else in the entire world was apparently going down the financial drain and into the underlying sewer.   But what made a difference was when they mentioned that they didn’t watch the television and hadn’t actually had one since 2000. As a result they had their own perception of reality rather than the one which was promoted by the media. An...
