Late last night I was winding down about to go to bed when I got a call from a friend who was channel surfing and had run across the Tucson Festival of Books on CSPAN and discovered a panel of three people from the 1960s era talking about their experiences.  The man on the panel was Mark Rudd, there to talk about My Life with SDS and the Weathermen.  SDS stands for Students for a Democratic Society and Mark was famous for having led the sit-ins at Columbia University in 1968, fanning the fire of the growing student movement (which we all called The Movement). It is so interesting to see someone you haven't see in 40 years and both recognize him and remember so much about him.  I was a member of SDS back in the late 60s.  For those o...

"Learn to drive, would ya?!"......"What the @#$@#@! are you thinking?!"......"Thanks a lot MORON!" ...an ode to the poetic utterings of a lone driver. These colorful phrases are often littered with strings of creative obsceneties and other harsh sounds and are sometimes accompanied by fervently communicative hand signals and strange 'waving' gestures which I can only assume are less than friendly in their meaning.  How strange, and yet, Alas! I am not exempt from this practice! I have participated in this inter-vehicular communication before. I have even caught myself believing that I must have been the only one who actually listened during drivers' education or thinking that maybe I am the sole respecter of the general 'rules' of the...

Something strange happened to me this week.  I was traveling back from London and I picked up a copy of the Evening Standard. I turned to the back page and began reading the sports section - my normal routine when I read newspapers. Usually, I stop reading when I incur the first non-sports story. I do this because media tends to focus on problems and since I tend to get what I focus on I tend not to read, watch or listen to news. On Wednesday, for some strange reason, I felt compelled to read beyond the sports pages. After flicking few a few pages of travel and television news I reached pages 24 and 25, where I was in for a shock. On each page contained an inspirational story. Page 24 reported how children in a London primary are b...

"It's not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but those most responsive to change."  This is a quote from Charles Darwin, and I found it striking because we usually think of him in relation to "survival of the fittest" and this statement puts an interesting slant on what is the fittest.  I also recall John Demartini saying that the amount of stress we experience is a direct correlation to our ability to adapt to change.  The greater the flexibility, the less stress.  The greater the rigidity, the more stress. Being a Life Entrepreneur requires amazing agility.  As Demartini also points out, we grow on the border of chaos and order.  Balancing that precariousness is vital to being able to withstand an...

We often find ourselves asking the question, "what's in it for me?" Naturally we want to know how we will benefit from whatever it is we are considering whether it be a relationship, a career opportunity, a product or service, etc. Not only is this part of our hard wiring, but it is also taught, conditioned, and nourished among the culture of humanity. In fact, whether you realize it or not, this question may have been and/or currently is your approach to life in general. It is the perverbial "search for happiness." We are always looking to find fulfillment. The problem is that so many never really do find it and if they do, it is not lasting. Why is that? Is it wrong to want to be happy? Of course not. But perhaps we are going about it ...

I have been looking at the world through my WE-colored glasses and noticing a whole different side to everything. My WE-colored glasses are a constant reminder to me that I am part of "WE" with others, within myself, with the planet, and with a Higher Power--all existing interdependently and harmoniously, living cooperatively and complimentary to each other. When I get angry at others for something they have done to me, my WE-colored glasses remind me that I am my biggest challenge, not others. When I notice another's mistake, they remind me that I make mistakes too. When I feel alone, they remind me that I am never really alone. When I feel hopeless, helpless, or just don't know what to do, they remind me to look to my Higher Power...

"I'm too old for this stuff, and I'm tired of dealing with it," I mumbled with a sigh wishing for a simpler life. I have come to a place in my life where I want less whining, less freaking out, less contention, less DRAMA both within myself and with others! I want more simplicity, more peace, more powerful action, and more truth, and the drama seems to interfere with all of these things. I guess I am in search of the drama-free life! What does that mean, you ask? For me, it is living a life based on truth, simplicity, responsibility, and authenticity. It is peaceful and loving. It is living a life run by spiritual self rather than by ego. Here are a few important points I came up with about living drama-free... 1....

We all have issues! Don't we?Just when I am sitting down to my computer to look up some ideas for solutions to my latest problem in life, I check my facebook for some inspiration and find that everyone else has some issue they are experiencing too. On the surface, their lives often look so much better than mine, and they seem so much more balanced than I am. But when you start talking about it, the skeletons come out of the closet and QUICK! I guess struggle is one of those certainties in life that we can just count on and that we can ALWAYS enjoy complaining about when invited! Sometimes we even like to get into a good game of "who has it worse?" One-upping each other on our life's struggles, obstacles, and fears. Who real...

I had an interesting insight the other day that I'd sort of known for several years but I just 'got' it at a deeper level. And it all came about as I was due to go out and spend the day fronting a stand at an event at Olympia. I'd promised to help an event organiser company and strut a little of my Tarot stuff - in other words I'd offer to do little bite size readings for people as they came to his stand. Makes it memorable and interesting and I wanted to do my bit. Anyway, before I left my home I realised that I had one horribly bloodshot eye - seriously bloodshot. My mood went down. I wondered how could I entertain, be psychic, smile and be happy looking like someone had poked something very sharp in my vulnerable eye? A moment o...
