Heart Dis-ease – Are You At Risk? Having spent so many years working on Cardiac Care Units and lost close family members to sudden heart attacks, I know the devastating effects that a heart disease can lead to. So many lives are ripped apart each year through the failure to understand and diagnose the early warning signs. A heart attack is the result of your head not understanding the everyday messages of your heart. Your heart is not just the muscle that pumps blood around your body, keeping you alive, it is also the centre of your emotional intelligence. The energy of the heart manifests through your emotions (energy in motion). Allowing this energy to run and taking the time to feel what is going on in your body, without judgm...

Have you ever gone against the will of a group and stood by your beliefs, despite the pressure that is being put on you? My dad has just left after a relaxing afternoon of catching up and I'm left here to sit and reflect on what has just happened. Three and a half years ago my grandad, David Shaw, died, aged 94. Two years earlier I sat down and chatted with him about his life and recorded the conversations. For the first time since I have just sat down with my dad and listened to them again. It was as though he came down to join us one more time, bearing some powerful lessons. He lived in a different time, almost a different universe. With no money, he joined the RAF, in 1940. He had to go and train in the USA and then in Canada....

What is intuition? The dictionary definition of intuition is “immediate apprehension by the mind without reasoning.”  That means: what you immediately receive or understand before your busy mind begins adding beliefs, thoughts, feelings and what it already knows, to the information you are receiving. How? What? Where? You are an infinite being connected to all things through all time and space, despite anything you may think. As an infinite being, you have access to extraordinary gifts, abilities and information, one of them is intuition – an ability that enables you to gather information on any topic you can come up with, without using your thinking brain. Everyone has intuitive ability, including you!  Who can say where ...

Many years ago I made a decision that I was only prepared to work for money if I enjoyed the process of earning it – otherwise I felt that even though the cash might pay the bills I was somehow selling my soul to the devil and that the time spent doing things I didn’t enjoy was time that was spent forever. So when I’ve turned things down in the past when rent needed to be paid, was I being a prima donna? Was I satisfying my ego or nurturing my heart? I’m not sure. I’ve been tuning into my intuition each morning and asking for guidance on being abundantly rewarded for doing the things that I love. The answers are very interesting and I’m gaining understanding of my underlying motivations. First of all it’s important to...

Measuring the pulse rate has long been an indicator of a person's well-being; it is now often one of the first things a health practitioner will check during a patient consultation. Now, according to results of a new study, simply measuring a woman's resting pulse rate can predict how likely she is to suffer a heart attack. The study on 129,000 post menopausal women with no history of heart problems, claims that those with the highest heart rates were found to be significantly more likely to suffer a heart attack than the women with the lowest rates. Responding to the study published in the BMJ, Professor Peter Weissberg, Medical Director at the British Heart Foundation, said: "This shows that having a high heart rate is a ris...

Could there be a worse time to resign from a well-paid job in order to follow my heart, conscience and intuition, and trust that everything will work out? Probably not. Have we, the human race, got time to waste - in the face of environmental, economic and social catastrophe? I think not. When I took on my most recent and lucrative contract, I made a verbal agreement with my employer that I would leave if it ever felt like a job. It did, so I've just quit. Whilst doing that job (co-creating this very site), it became clear that we are on the edge of potentially disastrous global changes, that through denial and despair, we are hopelessly failing to address. I'm now in no doubt that we are past choice. In essence, we (in ...
