What are you hiding?

Today I had the opportunity to discuss personal missions, talents, gifts and purpose today with my 9-year-old Sunday School students. We talked about Moses and various other people from the Bible and about their personal life missions--how their gifts, talents and experiences prepared them for the things they were to do, how they had little faith in their abilities in the beginning, how their faith AND their abilities grew over time with the help of God, and the differences they made in the lives of others.

Of the many valuable gems of wisdom found in these stories, two things really stood out for me in our discussion that I wanted to share with you. The first thing is that as each of us shares our talents and gifts with others, we make it possible for ALL of us to experience ALL gifts and talents. I may not be able to sing well, but I can listen to someone with that talent and still be able to experience and enjoy it. I may not have the knowledge required to solve a specific problem that I have, but someone else DOES! And if they share it with me, my problem can be easily solved. This means that we can all have everything we need and want if we are willing to share what we have.

The second thing that stood out to me is that each one of us has a significant part to play in helping all of the rest of us realize our full potential as human beings. As I fulfill my life mission (by becoming my true self--the person I was created to be), I help others to do the same and vice versa. We need each other to become all that we are capable of becoming. This means that each of us is equally valuable and significant, and we are interdependent with each other--not enemies, but teammates!

So while these thoughts are very empowering and exciting to me, I am wondering about myself and about you as well...What are you hiding?

Are there talents that you are hiding away? What are the gifts that you have to offer to humanity? How is your life purpose intertwined with mine? And what happens when someone refuses their life mission or hides their gifts from the world? How many others will suffer in some way because we have refused to be the powerful beings that we were meant to be?

Linda,
Great question "...well...What are you hiding?" It does make me think yet I realize that we hid our perceptions from ourselves and others either intentional or not. Your thoughts "As I fulfill my life mission (by becoming my true self--the person I was created to be), I help others to do the same and vice versa." is your perception of who you are while others may see them selves not of this mind and body... MANY talk of the spiritual without thinking or understanding the concept or our encounter with the unknown or what we do know about the subject AND we summarily dismiss it to talk about the concrete issue of the third dimension of space and time. You give a clue in thoughts and beliefs by saying, "...the person I was created to be)". Breaking it down you were... created therefore not connected by the creator or are... Could you have opened the possibility that you now are? How do you view free choice and predestination?

What is Dave hiding? It seems lots of stuff that I share freely and out in the open yet is not considered mainstream therefore is hidden. I do know there are many truths and many paths for the one and for the all. Sometimes I hid a chuckle or laughter when some would not see it as appropriate or that I am sad when opportunities are missed for those who do not see them YET this is life. I enjoy your questions as they build capacity and curiosity of things that we must question if we so choose.

Dave
