Very successful, wealthy, high profile advertising guru and, up until this point, extremely fit andhealthy, my client, let’s call him Jack, found himself in an emergency ward at 2am one morning lastweek suffering chest pains. What events took this energetic self made man to this potentially lifethreatening situation? Back in September 2009, Jack’s small five man agency landed ten major publicity campaignsscheduled for April and May delivery. Jack was busy dealing with normal day to day business andthe contracts were put to one side until January. Jack had been in this business for a decade andcould service these campaigns with his eyes closed. Talented with a natural instinct for marketing,Jack was a creative animal who never bothered...

Some perceive that this first decade of the 21st century quite the Hollywood blockbuster. Surviving the Y2K bug, we faced 911, Bali Bombings, Tsunami’s, Wars, Climate Change and a Global Financial Crisis that changed the face of our geopolitical landscape. Others perceive this first decade as a science fiction classic with technology advancing faster than our perception of time. Think about it. In the stories of the first decade of the 20th century, families sat around the radio together each night to listen to the news of the world, we met our friends at the local Nickelodeon for the Saturday matinee, listened to Scott Joplin on the hand cranked victrola, ordered from a Sears Roebuck catalogue, grew our own vegies, navigated by the s...

On my morning walks across the bridge to South Bank I marvel at the changing cityscape of Brisbane. In every direction there are projects in various stages of commencement or completion – almost done, half finished, just started, in need of repair or freshly completed and basking in its new magnificence. I wonder at the years invested in architectural projects such as the highly criticized Kurilpa Bridge where its inception quite possibly began a decade ago. I can imagine the passion, energy, blood, sweat and tears expressed by the creator and shake my head in amazement at the commitment it would take to hold the tension of this project and manage it right through to its completion. Standing beside the river looking up at the half com...

It’s hard to believe that there are only 12 days until it’s Christmas! For me, the middle of December has always been a magical time – everything looks, sounds, smells and feels different. There is this unspoken expectation hanging in the air that magic is about to happen – a creative tension of childlike wonder and joy – familiar and simply impossible to ignore. Looking back now from January until December, I see an exquisite and intricate brightly colored quilt sewn and embroidered by the hands of those I have shared 2009 with. Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring have cycled through these months connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting a diverse catalogue of faces, hearts and souls. Standing from this seasonal vantage point, I feel o...

Silent sentinel I stand in a world that holds endless species of light. I am Surya driving through the heavens. You look up and imagine that you see a golden orb. This sun is merely your own reflection. It is your own heart. It is your own light. The light you seek is within you. The light you seek is within me. The sky of the old order fell when a bird was knocked from his perch and the deluge destroyed the people of the wood. The sky of the new world could only be raised by an act of sacrifice. I was the cosmic sacrifice. I am earth and air and water. I am fire – I burn my own wood. I am Yggdrasil and I am the axis between worlds. A world clock ticking endlessly: sometimes my breath is ti...

As the Clock Strikes Twelve on Wednesday Night
Posted at 08:36:43 AM on Dec 30, 2008
Good question.
Perhaps the best place to start is to see where WE are terrorists ourselves.
See where WE cause the useless loss of lives?
We cannot stop the actions of another but we can see their reflections within ourselves and appreciate that these reflections of us are also part of the same something bigger.
Make choices for what we would love to create.
Love when everything in our bones screams at us to hate.
Stand firm when everything in our head yells at us to run.
Appreciate when everything in our hearts cries at us to fear.
Conscious living: Fortunately there are some who do the work for all the others….

What a great description!
Thank you so much for sharing this!
My question of course is WHY?
Why are parts of humanity living unconcsciously?
Or - Is this an illusion and these unconscious beings are actually disowned parts of US showing us - reflecting back parts of ourselves that live unconsciously?
Perhaps we only see that of them in order to highlight the integration needed within rather than without?
Perhaps these so called unconscious beings are looking back at us and asking the same questions?

So many considerations with this extract - what a great subject to consider!

Thank You x
