The article above demonstrates how I save the material from wind damaged trees and build something good from it. I have salvaged over 1,000 trees in the last eight years. I have to admit, not every tree will be worth $1,600 because of the way the wind blows it down splitting it or cracking it badly and not all trees are suitable for the projects shown in the link above.

For eco conscientious  people this is a pleasant way to use your hobby time with a very small outlay of tools. All of my tools were bought on sale and one or two projects paid for my entire shop.

Wow! How creative is that and what beautiful work. In a throw-away society you are to be commended.

Vivienne Edwards, and others,
Thanks for the comments. Just today, a person that had never been out to my place before, dropped by and left with enough tree salvaged boards to make some furniture. He does great work. He had pictures of his work and heard about my woodpile and came by to see if he could buy or trade for some wood. We made a deal.

He is a retired school custodian and spends his remaining years making potato bins which he sells for $75 each. I don't know if any of you remember your grandmother's potato bin, but I do mine. It is sort of a half box in a half box and when you pull down the outside handle, the bin opens and there are your potatoes.

It is nice when you meet other people for the first time.
