Clothes should be optional but the line "Are you decent" has thrown a money or spanner into the works. The line are you decent after reading here at CS seems counter intuitive or an oxymoron. We are all decent with or without clothes yet many maintain morals yet we don't demoralize the babes entering this world in their birthday suits so why stop there?
This line has always bugged me. Here in America it means do you have enough clothes on for people to look at you. Yes there are also laws that insist that you have clothes on in order to keep lawful, unless you’re on a nudist beach or in your own home or other places its authorized. As a heterosexual male I have always been fond of the female form and have found females in all shapes and sizes very decent. Well there I go thinking again so to be careful I looked up the “Decent” in MS Encarta
1.moral
conforming to accepted
standards of moral
behavior
2.good
above average in quality
or quantity
5.sufficiently dressed
sully dressed, as opposed
so being naked or
wearing only underwear
It’s funny I don’t remember that “decent” is a word that describes “moral behavior”. It’s the old story that one moment Adam and Eve were really decent and naked in the Garden of Eden and the next second they were looking for clothes. I am sure there are many stories that are like this but we continue to degrade people because they don’t wear enough clothes or wear to little amounts or none at all. WE do degrade people for wearing to few or no clothes and claim that they are immoral. That tickles me to those who are in their birthday suits are a threat of a nuisance to society? I am beginning to think if it is a problem that those who have a problem with it take a look at them and ask why it is such a problem? Anyone been to a lake or a beach lately during the warm weather? One I find interesting is a group of women who are protesting equality to be able to have bare chests while sunbathing like men. You know what there were a whole lot of men who supported these women; I may catch as they used to say, HE double LL for this from some fully clothed decent folks and there will be a few that will agree with me.
